12/31/11 – I’m wishing you all a very Happy and Healthy New Year! An African Blessing from Cousin Lainie really sums up my feelings:

Walk tall, walk well, walk safe, walk free,
Any may harm never come to thee.

Walk wise, walk good, walk proud, walk true,
And may the sun always smile on you.

Walk prayer, walk hope, walk faith, walk light,
And may peace always guide you right.

Walk joy, walk brave, walk love, walk strong,
And may life always give you a song.

9/11/11 – It’s been 10 years since the nightmare began and the World Trade Centers came down. Lots of memories flash before me of that horrific time. The sights and sounds, as seen on TV, will never leave my mind. Still, I made a collection of photos to make sure I will never forget what we, as a country, went through on that awful day. Two years later when we had visited that site, it was still a gaping hole in the ground, with the surrounding buildings still bearing the scars, and wrapped in protective netting. I was once again brought to tears. Now on the 10th anniversary, the Memorial Pools, replace the rubble, but not the pain. We will still, “Always Remember and Never Forget.”

A rainbow is beautiful because it is made of many colors. People are beautiful because they are all unique. They come in many different sizes, shapes and colors. They have many different talents and interests. Yet, in the end, they are all just people. This song, “Don’t Laugh at Me,” sung by by Peter, Paul and Mary, a favorite of mine, stresses the importance of accepting people for who they are on the inside, not how they look on the outside.

The Missing Piece
Are you searching for something that will make you feel complete? Check out this story.

6/19/11 In response to my video on Larry’s Page, my cousin, Lainie, sent me this poem…so beautiful, so moving, I just had to share it.

Death is Nothing at All

Death is nothing at all.
I have only slipped into the next room.
I am I and you are you.
Whatever we were to each other, that we are still.
Call me by my old familiar name.
Speak to me in the easy way which you always used.
Put no difference in your tone.
Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow.
Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes we enjoyed together.
Play, smile, think of me, pray for me.
Let my name be ever the household word that it always was.
Let it be spoken without effect, without the trace of shadow on it.
Life means all that it ever meant.
It is the same as it ever was, there is unbroken continuity.
Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight?
I am waiting for you, for the interval, somewhere very near.
Just around the corner.
All is well.
